He is going to be mine…….Forever

The heading of this post tells a lot of things and you must have got the idea by now that whom I am talking about. yes, this “he” is my fiance, Shoyeb. After a long six years relation,we  got engaged last month and InshAllah are going to get married in next January. so many things happened in both of our lives  in the last six years. We have witnessed the developement of relations. So I thought today i will share some of it with you.

Shoyeb and I started knowing each other from January 2005. At first we were just good friends, but with paasing times our friendship developed and reached to a whole new level. We became best of friends. I have never seen a boy and a girl sharing so many secrets within themselves, in my whole entire life. I remember that the first thing I used to do after coming from my college is to call him up and spill out every single detail of the events that had taken place that day. And the same thing was done by him too. Our “best” friendship stayed for like 2 and a years and then one day he propsed to me. At first I was shocked, then after realizing the situation, my initial answer was negative. I remember those moments vividly, when an unknown and invisible wall grew between us, and just with the fear of loosing the most precious friend of my life, I said him ‘yes’, some days later. And believe me, since that day till now, I have never regretted on my modified statement. With this new developement in our relationship,we became more close friends than we used to be. Every of our move towards future became smooth and with lots of plans.

Now, we both are getting our “fruitful” results. Both the families happily agreed with our relation and gave their blessings which again developed our love. I, sometimes think of all these events of my life and suddenly I start smiling…. I am getting an angel in the form of my husband and he will be mine ……… forever.

Bridal Attire

No bride and groom are complete without the perfect attire for their wedding. People have their own wishes to make their wedding a uniquely beautiful one. And so to do that at first they prepare themselves. Usually in our tradition, brides get their bridal attire (saree for holud, wedding and walima, even some gives lehenga for the weedings)from the groom’s side and the grooms are also treated the same way. Although now a days, some differences are seen in the sense that if the marraige is an affair marriage, the couple gets the freedom to go together and buy the dresses at their own choice.

To cope up and to co-operate with people’s growing expectations and tastes, many stores and designer boutiques have opened their huge amount of collections.  From these unlimited designs, you will not have the slightest problem in satisfying your wishes, ideas and needs.

At present a new trend is also seen. the bride and groom, wear the same design in their ceremony. they completely match their attire. As this is a bit new, so this kind of matching attire will not be found in every shop. although these are available in the boutiques. and if they are not found, you can always order the tailers to make it up for you.

you can find a vast amount of collection of bridal attires in Gawsia, New Market (sarees and lehengas for the bride) and elephant road(Sherwanis  and suits for the grooms). here you will get things in a reasonable price and ofcourse!!!! you can bargain. stores like Jyoti, Khan Brothers, Monerekho have met up many brides expectations successfully. and then in Elephant road, you will get huge showrooms of Raymond, ReidnTailors who are simply the best complete suits.

If you want something very exclusive nad designer wear then you have load up your pocket and wander around area of Gulshan. their you will get the designer boutiques and shops like, Vasavi, Zaara, Shoppers world etc. the matching material for bridal saree and groom’s sherwani is available in these stores. other than that Bashundhara city, has its own vast collections of bridal attires.

So brides and grooms, their is simply nothing that can not meet up to your expectationsn in your wedding. you just need your idead to fabricate yourself and ofcourse!!! cash.. and you are set for you special day……………

Some people are so INhuman….

Recently two of our Bangladeshi celebrities, Tisha and Mostafa Sarwar Faruki got wed to each other.  Their Holud and Wedding pictures were published in one of the bridal groups in facebook. i have joined that group earlier so I recieved their post in my Home page. When I opened the pictures i was utterly shocked. In each picture there were more than 50 comments and 90% of them were bad and insulting ones. People from everywhere in Bangladesh ( and some from outside the country) have posted such low class comments that can not be even imagined. they have criticized almost about everything from the Bride and Groom’s attire to their expressions. some of them have literally crossed their limit by posting slang for the couple. I was so taken aback when I read some posts of some girls of our age, who has actually criticized the couple from head to toe and have also given fashion advice to them!!!!!! isn’t this weird or what?
I don’t get one thing. Doesn’t people have anything else to do than posting ill comments about people? Nobody ever thought for an instant that pictures are somebody’s wedding moments. celebrities are human as well. They can also get hurt. and after all, It is their wedding, their life. Tisha n Faruki made their wedding dresses with their own money, not ours. so why do we have to judge their attire. we are not in the loss. I don’t understand what kind of happiness do they get after insulting the couple…..
This phenomena is not a new one for me. recently I got engaged, and I posted some pictures on my facebook. I received bad comments from two of my classmates(although everybody else gave me lots of complements). It was so upsetting and embarrassing for me.
Through this blog I want to request all you guys one thing. PLEASE don’t post any bad comments on any bridal picture. Those pics might not be important to you, but it might mean life to somebody else. These moments rarely come bake in our lives and we should always respect them as they are.

Bridal beauty

Every girl has a common wish of looking exceptionally beautiful in their own wedddings. And why won’t they have this wish? After all, this is one day which never comes back in life again (it will be a different case if she gets married more than once!!!). It looks like the wedding day for the brides and grooms are particularly assigned for them. It is their day and nobody else’s. And to make that special day more special both the bride and the groom try to look perfect in an extraordianry sense.

In the past, brides used to get ready at their home and used to decorate themselves with the little amount of cosmetics they had. But, at present, beauty parlours and  makeover salons  have opened in every corner. With their new methods, ingredients and vast amount of ideas they change a girl into a gorgeous bride. Although, every parlour is not succesful in doing it, the famous and high class makeover salons are able to perform this magic. some of these salons are: Persona, Farzana Shakil, Dreams, Women’s World, La Belle, Que Bella etc. Although their rates are a bit higher than any other normal beauty parlours, it is worth it. you have your “paisa wasool” when you take their service.

Every parlour, in the wedding season, give various kinds of  discount packages for brides. Like for now, Dreams have given a bridal package, where with the bridal makeup, one party make up is absolutely free. In another salon, two party make up are given in 50% discount with one bridal make over. some parlours have a completely bridal package, which includes facial, hair treatment, hair cut, manicure, pedicure, mehendi and bridal make up.

Nowadays, there are make over salon for the grooms as well. and why not?????? even the groom has to match his gorgeous bride. that is why Persona Adams provide very good services for the guys. Here also they have packages for grooms, in which they have hair cut, facial, shaving, hair tratment etc.

So brides and grooms, now your weddings can be as exotic as you have wished and there is no restrictions left for you to look exceptional.

Mehendi…. a black color symbolizing happiness

‘Mehendi’ i.e. henna have always been a vital part in the traditional Asian Weddings. Nowadays, it has reached to a whole new level. In the past brides used to give very simple designs on their hand by henna. but now things have changed a lot. people have created various kinds of designs and have started decorating people’s hands with them. Mehendi, now, has become a form of fashion for everybody. There are even many interpretations of bridal henna. It is said that the bride, whose henna color will grow  dark maroon ,will be very lucky because this symbolizes that her husband will love her very much. I have seen people getting crazy to make their henna color dark (they apply extra things like lemon juice and sugar which makes the henna color deep) in order to live up to the interpretations.

At present, you will find many people who are experts in applying mehendi. In Dhaka city, there are parlours where you can go and give mehendi on your hands. They charge tk.2500 for bridal mehendi, which is for both the hands, on both sides upto the elbow. for one side on both hands they charge tk 1500, and the charge becomes less as you demand for more simpler designs. Other than parlours, there are some girls who are real experts on mehendi designs and they can apply mehendi on your hands, but for that you have to go to their homes. Among them one is  Mehendi By Shonkho. This is a company which is run by Saima Feyruz.  In my opinion, she is a ‘guru’ of mehendi designs.  her designs are all very different from one another and the most interesting part of her creations is, she never follows a trend of designs. her ones are new and modern but still very much traditional.

Mehendi By Shonkno is in facebook. I am sure most of you have seen her designs there and have appreciated it. I have set my mind that I will apply mehendi from her in my wedding. And I am confident most of the brides are having the same intention as me….

Heaven on Earth

This post is completely out of track from my regular posts which are under the theme ‘wedding’. but I just couldn’t stop my fingers from writing on this photo.  Many of  you might think that this picture is taken from any website and it is somewhere in a foreign country. But guess what, this is from a place which is right inside our Country, Bangladesh. This is Nilgiri, which is in Bandarban, near Chittagong.

This picture is taken by one of the friends of my fiance. when I saw this picture I was completely speechless for the first few moments.  I never had viewed such a breathtaking picture in my life and it made me so proud to realize that this piece of heaven is in my own country.

when I saw this picture for the first time I thought the room and the balcony is in the air with the clouds beneath it. But then I gave myself a reality check. How can this be possible????????? Then I looked closely and my fiance told  that the resort itself is in one of the mountains (at least then I got myself confirmed that it is not in the air).

I have never been to Nilgiri but this picture alone has made my views set over it. I think we have got an amazing part of the nature inside our land and this is surely a boon for us. Now it is our duty to take care of this wonderful gift of  the Almighty. I know that our “respected” government do not pay attention to these things but they should…..

I honestly didn’t know about Nilgiri before. Now I come to think that there might be so many other beautiful and exotic place inside our country about which I am still not aware of. But from now on I am going to open and focus my senses on the magic of mother nature and  will surely will find another of her wonder soon. I believe it now…..

P.S. To all my friends and those who are viewing this post, whoever went to Nilgiri before, consider yourself very lucky. And who, like me, haven’t gone there yet, please visit there as soon as you can. this trip will be worth living. :-)

‘Digging’ Gold…

No, this post is not about digging out gold from the gold mines. Rather it is about the gold that families ‘dig’ out from the jewelery shops for the brides. I think that you have guessed it by now that I am talking about wedding jeweleries. Asian weddings are completely incomplete without gold jeweleries. It seems like something is missing when a bride comes on stage without wearing gold ornaments.

Although, the price of gold is reaching the sky day by day, people tend to compromise with their budget in this area. Though the price of  per ‘bhori’ of gold is fixed but you can bargain with the making price  and can make it less a lot. Nowadays there are a lot of jewelery stores in the city out of which some are very famous and provide quality materials. some of their names are: Apan Jewelers, Amin Jewelers, Purobi Jewelers, Shanonda Jewelers, New Jarwa House etc. you will find multiple branches of these stores(except for Jarwa House as it has only store in Gulshan-1) in Baitul mukarram, Bashundhara City, New Market and Chandni Chawk. Unfortunately, they do not have websites of their own, but you can see their designs and get informations about them from the link given below.

This is also very much important to choose perfect designs for the brides.  my suggestion will be that if you can, take the bride with you and let her choose the design because this is something which is going to be very important for her forever and this is not something she can change whenever she wants. And if you don’t have the bride with you then think about her, think about her face and neck structure and try to choose the right design for her. I know this might sound funny but remember, Gold jeweleries bring the perfectness in brides beauty.

Dala Preparations….

Wedding is an amazing experience for everybody. From the day the two families agree, to the day of the reception, every moment becomes worth living for both the bride and groom along with their family members.
Everybody want to have their wedding in a beautiful way. They wish to have uniqueness in their preparations, so that the guests can remember it for a long time. But making something unique is not that easy as it sounds. Infact, preparations for a wedding is very difficult and time consuming. It needs a lot of planning and patience to pull out a successful wedding. In addition to that, it is almost impossible to arrange everything by a single person. wedding preparations need hands and brains for new ideas. and mostly, these ideas are needed for the ‘dala’ decorations.  Although nowadays, it has become a lot easier for us to decorate these things. You can go to Elephant Road (near Bata Signal) where you will find all the materials like dalas, cosmetics, sherwani, pagri, nagra for the groom, floral ornaments for the bride etc. They even have the facility of decorating everything for you, though you have to charge for it. They have huge collections of designs and they maintain catalogs from where you can choose the designs and they will do it for you. The price is also reasonable their and of course you can bargain for things. If you are a good bargainer, I can assure you that you can get things in very cheap prices there.

Other than that if you want to do the decorations at home and want some more ideas, then you can find many websites in the net which can be an immense for you. I am posting one such website link here. hope you will fimd interesting things…

My engagement bling!!!

After quite some time I am blogging today. The past two weeks had been an unique experience for me and my family. It was full of excitement but at the same time full of nervousness. Tension was surrounding everywhere but it had happiness mixed with it. And the reason behind these combination of emotions was…. my engagement.

Engagement, as you very well know, is a pre-marriage ritual. my one happened 7 months before the wedding. engagement is just not about exchanging rings, its much much more than that. And now I realize it completely.

My marriage is half love and half arranged. Half love because I am marrying my best friend. We know each other for 6 years. And half arranged because, though I knew him, I had never talked with his parents. They were completely new to me. This engagement has given me a great opportunity to know them closely. In addition to that both the families have started mingling a lot after the function. This closeness between the families is making the bond between us more stronger day by day. Now I have full permission to call his parents whenever I want. I can go out with him everywhere with my parents permission.

I had heard from one of my aunts that the journey between the engagement and the wedding is a sole experience where a lot of new surprises wait around the corners. I haven’t understood it that time but now, not only I understand…… I feel it.

Finding a Topic

Here I am again! today our respected teacher, Mr Carl Bloom suggested us to select a theme to write about in our blogs. at first I was not so comfortable at sticking on one theme because I seriously do not consider myself to be an expert in any field of knowledge. so blogging about one thing will not be a piece of cake for me. I am very practical and technical in nature and not at all creative. so this is hard for me. But thanks to the Almighty that I found a topic for my blogs. and that is “WEDDING”. This might sound to you very typical but let me tell you one thing…. i wont keep it that way and this is because I can add up my own personal experience in the following post, as because my own wedding is coming up. In the following blogs I might talk about the different ingredients  and aspects of weddings, mostly traditional, Bengali weddings. And of course my personal obeservation will be there in the blogs. so lets go to a journey where we explore and experience the heavenly gift of the Almighty.
